1957-1998

 

               1961 –1965      DAILU SPORTS RACING CARS  Montreal, Qc.

 CO-DESIGNED AND CONSTRUCTED SPORTS

CARS KNOWN AS THE "DAILU".

 

The first race car in 1962, the DAILU MK I or

"DAILU BARDAHL SPECIAL",

sponsored by Bardahl International Oil Corp.

and BP Oil Products,

 

THE DAILUS WERE THE MOST SUCCESSFUL

RACING CARS BUILT IN CANADA                             

 

        THE DAILU MK I WAS THE FIRST CANADIAN BUILT CAR TO
       WIN A RACE AT MOSPORT, AT THE INDIAN SUMMER TROPHY
        RACES, 1962, HANDING THE LOTUS 19 ITS FIRST DEFEAT

 

                     The MK I competed very successfully in international

                     competition winning races against the world's best

                     manufacturers, including Ferrari, Porsche, Lotus,

                     Maserati, Cooper, Chapparal, Jaguar

 

COMPETITON DRIVER - SPORTS RACING CARS

(1957 – 1969)

COMPETED FOR 12 YEARS IN OVER 200 SPORTS

RACING EVENTS,   amateur and professional,

in the U.S., Canada, and the Bahamas.

Raced CORVETTES in conjunction with General Motors

experimental division, including one of four experimental

Corvette Gran Sports.

 

 

Competed in Canada and the U.S. in 1961 in the first

JAGUAR XKE  shipped to North America, (#4 prototype).

1965 – 12 Hour Race of Endurance – Sebring, Florida

drove for Italian Factory Team – Grifo Berlinetta GT

FORD SHEBLY COBRA 289 – (In 1969)

Lightweight/short wheelbase version.   

 

 

The first Canadian to compete in Canada for FERRARI

(sponsored by Ferrari & United Auto Parts, (UAP),

and BP OIL PRODUCTS)

in the famed FERRARI 250LM,  and in the

ex factory team car, 1966 Lemans DINO FERRARI

 

1960 QUEBEC DRIVERS CHAMPIONSHIP

(driving the Sadler MK IV)

ICE RACING CHAMPIONSHIP, (1964,1965,1967)

1967 CANADIAN DRIVING CHAMPIONSHIP

(second under 2 litre)

 

1998

            CANADIAN MOTORSPORT HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE

 

2004

 

               42 years later………. at Mosport, VARAC, 25th  Anniversary

                   The Dailu Mk I, was the “pace car” for the high speed

                       parade of Canadian built cars, driven by Dave
